The physicist Giselher Grüner worked at the IGT "Institut für Grafische Technik Leipzig" from 1977 to 1992 where he served as deputy department head from 1986. Based upon an idea from the Univerity of Tokyo, he and his R&D team invented and developed the first prototype of a completely new device for testing the sizing degree by means of the ultrasonic technique.
